Movie tonight at Cemetery Park

It's Friday, so here's a reminder that there's an 8 pm movie screening tomorrow night at Cemetery Park. This week's movie is an experimental basketball/animation movie called Space Jam, starring basketball legend Michael Jordan. Although few saw Space Jam when it was released, critics now recognize the film as an important precursor to modern basketball films like Double Team and Scary Movie 4.

Last week's Wicker Man screening was unfortunately marred by both rain and vomit-soaked grass. But the folks over at the Burnt Oak Community Action Committee Event (BOCACE) assure me the vomit has been properly hosed away and the only dangers now are the ones posed by people having a great time watching a fun movie and ticks.

Here's a great clip.

Ham Hat Screening at Cemetary Park

The next BOCACE screening down at Cemetary Park is going to be a hilarious treat-- it's the 2009 short-film "Ham Hat" by the LA film-making ensemble The Birthday Boys.

Here's a behind-the-scenes making-of video that also contains the entire film.

BOCACE Movie Screening Sat 8 pm

Good news! There's another Burnt Oak Community Action Committee Events screening down at Cemetery Park tomorrow night! Although some say last week's screening of Grease 2 was ruined by ceaseless vomiting (Yes, paté CAN go bad, guys) this reporter had a great time despite the rain and smell.

This week's movie is a 2006 horror masterpiece called "The Wicker Man." It's rated PG-13 but still has some pretty terrifying moments. For example:

Hope to see you there. Don't forget your blanket! And don't make it a good blanket, as there's still a good deal of vomit in certain patches.

Grease 2 Showing at Cemetery Park

Burnt Oak Community Action Committee Events has announced their fall outdoor movie screening schedule! In case you didn't go last year, the BOCACE movies are screened on a big wall next to Cemetery park. There's popcorn and alcohol-free jello shots for the kids, beer and paté for the adults, and even a small area for the elderly. Better yet, the admission is FREE!

Movies show at 8 pm every Saturday, beginning tomorrow with a showing of Grease 2. That's the song-n-dancer that catapulted Michelle Pfieffer to stardom and taught America to love again. Here's my favorite part (it was hard to choose!)!

We'll keep you updated about upcoming movies. Don't forget to bring your blanket, pot, and a friend!
